Our Projects
Software-driven Data During Crisis
Public concern can bubble over into panic without the right tools to help harness the facts and deliver information in a digestible way to the masses. Anxiety can arise over new laws, new taxes, rumored crime statistics, refugee crises, disease outbreaks and more.
At Innovation Activators, we strive to provide statistical reporting or software tools when we perceive the need for a public service that is otherwise lacking. We are happy to partner with corporations, news agencies and governments in the Caribbean to assist with the distilling and delivery of information to the public.
To-date, we’ve worked on two not-for-profit projects in this light:
- Covid-19 Caribbean Reporting (Caribbean, 2020)
- Property Tax Calculator (Trinidad and Tobago, 2017)
Covid-19 Caribbean Reporting
To promote awareness of the health of the Caribbean population in the face of the Covid-19 outbreak, we provided a website that summarized up-to-date information on the status of cases in each Caribbean country. Visit the website here. Example data can be seen below.

Property Tax Calculator
In 2017, Trinidad and Tobago announced a new Property Tax and almost immediately, posts about the tax were flooding social media and news outlets. While conceptually everything seemed simple, there was a high degree of confusion in the public sphere when it came down to the payment amount that would actually impact people’s pockets. We wanted to create something free of legal jargon that could help educate through social media and give an idea of what you may have to pay.
A web app with calculations built into the back end was an easy solution to help with the number crunching and reduce anxiety. While property tax is currently not being enforced, we have discontinued use of the web page but a link to the site example can be found here.
Press coverage of the property tax calculator can be found below:

GNSS PROJECTS
Traditionally referred to as GPS, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) refers to a constellation of satellites providing signals from space that transmit positioning and timing data to GNSS receivers. The receivers then use this data to determine location.
By definition, GNSS provides global coverage. Examples of GNSS include the USA’s NAVSTAR Global Positioning System (GPS), Russia’s Global’naya Navigatsionnaya Sputnikovaya Sistema (GLONASS), China’s BeiDou Navigation Satellite System and Europe’s Galileo.
Performance criteria
Accuracy: the difference between a receiver’s measured and real position, speed or time;
Integrity: a system’s capacity to provide a threshold of confidence and, in the event of an anomaly in the positioning data, an alarm;
Continuity: a system’s ability to function without interruption;
Availability: the percentage of time a signal fulfils the above accuracy, integrity and continuity criteria.
At Innovation Activators our team members have delivered customized high accuracy solutions which assisted in driving innovative products to market.
Our most notable collaboration consisted of working with ProTanks Trade B.V. located in Rotterdam,Netherlands to develop a tracking solution at the Rotterdam World Gateway. The tracking solution called Hadd-on is built as a smart add-on for Honeywell’s most popular A79 hard hat.
